How to have a Fabulously Festive Christmas wedding

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – for a wedding! If everyone comes together at this time of year, so why not make the most of it and celebrate your nuptials, too? We love a Christmas wedding  so here are some of our favourite theme ideas from  Wedding Ideas Mag, to get you in the festive spirit…

Seasonal colours

First off, let’s think about Christmas colours – if you want to avoid the traditional greens and reds associated with the season, then there are loads of modern winter options for you to consider. We love the look of berry shades such as deep reds and purples interspersed with winter whites. It’s a chic option for a Christmas wedding that feels luxurious and festive. Purple calla lilies are a sophisticated choice, and you won’t need many of them to create an impact. Talk to your florist about what will work for you. Pantone is a great place to start looking for colour inspiration – and you can buy a colour fan from Dessy which is an easy way to see which shades suit you. If you’re having a late afternoon wedding then it’s going to get dark early, so why not dress your bridesmaids in deep jewel tones that will look great in the evening? Plums and aubergines are a beautiful option in cozy, low lighting.how-to-have-a-fabulously-festive-christmas-wedding-louiseholgate-com-beccy-tom-full-res-215

For bridesmaid gifts you could gift them a contrasting pashmina to snuggle into. Remember that shoes don’t have to be matchy matchy – in fact it’s better and more on trend if they offer a pop of colour. If you feel like being minimal, then just having white and silver for your colour scheme makes a perfect Christmas theme. You could dress your maids in winter white and accessorise with silver and diamante earrings, bracelets or belts. Christmas trees

We think a beautifully decorated Christmas tree is an absolute must at both your ceremony and your venue. Use the wedding colours you’ve chosen for your tree decorations. Whites, silvers, golds and berry shades are classic and chic, while bright jewel shades of turquoise, emerald, ruby and amethyst will also look wonderful.

For your table decorations just put a mini tree on every table. This is a great DIY idea, and you can buy mini trees for about ÂŁ5 on Amazon. Or, to make things look extra festive, you can drape some organza around your wedding tables or tie onto chairbacks and table centres.how-to-have-a-fabulously-festive-christmas-wedding-kimhawkins-co_-ukcharlotte-lester-222

Eat, drink and be merry

Christmas is the best time of year to splash out on great food and drink, so serve your guests a festive feast! You could offer your guests mulled wine and hot spiced apple juice as they arrive at your reception, with mini sausages to nibble on. A version of Christmas dinner is a natural choice for your main meal. Most people love a roast – and it doesn’t have to be turkey. If you’re having a buffet you could serve up the main course carvery style, so as well as the traditional turkey with all the trimmings, you could offer a large ham and a vegetarian option.

For dessert, the options are endless – Christmas pudding, mince pies, Yule log, trifle… our mouths are watering just thinking about it! And if your wedding budget is tight, instead of favours, just put a Christmas cracker at everyone’s place – you could even personalise them beforehand if you have time, so that it doubles as a place name.

Entertaining children

Keeping little ones occupied at a wedding will make their parents eternally grateful to you and a Christmas theme gives you some ready-made ideas. First off, you could have Father Christmas for a visit (maybe before the wedding breakfast whilst the adults are enjoying drinks and canapés) and give the kids Christmas gifts to play with throughout the meal. Alternatively have a chill-out room and play Christmas-themed DVDs – we’re thinking Polar Express, The Snowman, and The Grinch. This will leave you and your grown-up guests free to enjoy your amazing wedding day!

A word of warning though before we go… If you have booked a wedding at this time of year, make sure you get those save the dates out super quick to avoid any clashes of commitments over the festive period.

It’s Only Rock n’ Roll Baby!

Rock Chick Bridal Shoot, shot a couple of weeks back with an awesome group of wedding suppliers. It was lovely to work with such talented creative people and a great opportunity to work on something a bit different

see more pics here : It’s Only Rock n’ Roll Baby!

Our stunning model Belle had long beautiful flowing hair and was simply perfect for the shoot. Belle had coloured her hair an amazing shade of violet, especially with our rock shoot in mind!  Using the likes of Gwen Stefani and Pink as style inspiration, Gillian worked Belle’s crowing glory to the max, and was certainly on pointe in delivering to the style brief. I personally love the way the front of Belle’s hair has been quiffed to give that rocky edge; whilst still retaining a distinctly feminine look with the beautifully intricate fishtail plait to the back.

thanks guys, it was a pleasure to work with you

An intimate and informal real wedding at 60 Hope Street, Liverpool.

Rachel Ryan Photography

Never let a wedding blog tell you there are things you need to have: there aren’t. All you need is the two of you – everything else is optional. Clare and Dan’s wedding at 60 Hope Street is simple, minimalist… and all the more romantic for it. The love that shines in their photographs warms my heart. Clare found her wedding suppliers on the internet and through recommendations – and her photographer Rachel Ryan was a super find on Facebook!

There are no needless details in today’s wedding; instead Dan and Clare spent on the things which were more important to them. Photography, of course – and a fabulous dress, quirky venue and stylish wedding invites from Not on the High Street. Flowers were elegant and simple; place settings were pretty and clutter-free. The venue is just gorgeous…

How to Choose Your Wedding Hair Stylist

If you want help deciding which hairdresser will be the wedding hairstylist perfect for you and your big day- ask them these questions!

Answered by Gillian Roslan of Kreative Hairdressing

Q. How many people do you style at a wedding?

I style all your bridal party, if I have a large amount of people, I will bring an assistant along to help on the day.

Q. Are you happy to travel a long distance to style my hair for my wedding?

A. Yes, Absolutely! I style hair around Cheshire, Shropshire, all the North West Region, however, there will be a travel cost and the bridal party needs to be no less than 5 people.

Q. I am booking a wedding for a VIP client; do you have a privacy policy?

A. Yes, over the last 20 years I have styled hair for several VIP weddings and I offer total discretion and privacy.

Q. How far ahead of the wedding do I need to have a rehearsal?

A rehearsal is generally 6-8 weeks before the wedding but this can be earlier or later to suit yourself

Q. Is it essential to have a rehearsal?

A. Yes, for both your and my peace of mind I insist on a rehearsal for every wedding booking.  A rehearsal allows me to assess your hair type and make sure it will work with the style that you want for your big day.

Q. Do I need to provide or do anything for a trial session?

What I suggest is that you have a good think about what sort of style you want. Bring along photos of styles that you like, photos of your dress and any accessories such as tiara and veil.

Q. What does a trial Run session involve?

A rehearsal appointment is up to 2 hours. An informal appointment where we will discuss the theme of your wedding, look at images of your dress and hairstyles that you like then I will style and create your desired hairstyle for you. I will fix your headdress/tiara and veil, then take photographs and make notes so that we can replicate the style on your wedding  day.

Q. Where does a trial appointment take place?

I offer a rehearsal  appointments at Kreative Hairdressing Salon Little Sutton CH66 1QS,  I will try and accommodate a trial at a weekend but in the wedding season it is very difficult as this is when I am actually styling hair for weddings.

Q. Can you use hair extensions for me on my wedding day?

Yes, I have full training in the application and styling of clip in hair extensions. They can be used to add volume or length to hair and are a great way to achieve a hairstyle that you thought might not be possible with your hair!

Q. Where can I get hair extensions from?

I colour match and supply clippin hair extensions. I will colour match your hair before your rehearsal so we have them on the day of your rehearsal. If you decide to change the colour of your hair once you have paid for the extension I am afraid I cannot give a refund.

Q. How much are clippin hair extensions?

I use 100% Remy Human Hair Extension, of a high quality. 15ӣ75.00 18ӣ85.00 20ӣ95.00 once you have purchased the extensions, they are yours to keep.

Q. Do I need to provide anything on the wedding morning for you?

You need to provide your ornamentation for yourself and your bridesmaids (tiara/veil/diamante clips etc.) and lots of cups of tea for me!! I bring everything else we need; all I ask for is that you prepare an area with a dining/kitchen type chair and maybe a work top or table near for me to place equipment on. I need everyone that I am styling hair for to be ready  for when I arrive, we will discuss this and timings at your rehearsal.

Q. Can you add someone to the list of people being styled?

Sometimes I can if I know in advance of the big day. On the morning itself I will have worked out timings so it is unlikely that I will have spare time to add to the list of clients.

Q. Do you recommend a particular make-up artist?

I work with lots of different make-up artists on real weddings, photo shoots and magazine features. If you require a makeup artist please let me know and i will arrange one for you.

Q. How do I book you for my wedding?

Email me kreativehairdressing@hotmail.com with full details of

  • The date of your wedding

  • The location you are getting ready on the morning of your wedding

  •  Time of your ceremony,

  • What time you would like to be ready, taking into consideration putting your dress on ect

  • How many people are in your bridal party?

Q. How do I pay my deposit?

If I am available, you can book me by paying a non-refundable ÂŁ50 deposit. I will send you my bank details or you can pay via cheque
